History Research Paper
Any topic that fits into the parameters of the course is acceptable, with some exceptions.
Some sources you may want to consider are:

GENERAL ENCYCLOPEDIAS ARE POOR SOURCES.
USING YOUR TEXTBOOK AS A SOURCE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
WIKIPEDIA IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO USE AS A SOURCE IN A COLLEGE PAPER.
You must use a minimum of five sources. Your sources must include:
1. Two books. I prefer these be hardcopies. If they are electronic or web-based, you must make this clear in your bibliography and provide the URL. They must be full-text.2. At least one journal or magazine article, they must be full-text. They cannot be excerpts.3. No more than TWO internet sources, no including the above.
For any information that needs to be cited, you must use footnotes, endnotes, or parenthetical notation. You must use one of these and be consistent throughout the paper. A paper without one of these three will receive an automatic zero. For information on how to credit sources I recommend you visit the Success Center. You are required to use MLA format unless you receive prior approval.
The paper MUST:
1. be double-spaced2. have margins no larger than one inch3. be in a font size NO LARGER than 124. have at least 5 pages of text and be no longer than 8 pages 5. include a separate title page with, a title, your name, date of submission, and course number
Your grammar and spelling will be graded.
You must include a bibliography / work cited page. A paper without one will earn an automatic zero.
You must include your topic sheet. It will earn a zero without it. Attach it to the back.
When you turn your paper in it must be bound with a staple or paperclip. Unbound papers will not be accepted.
You will lose at letter grade, 10 points, for the following:
1. 2. using less than 5 sources3. using too many internet sources4. using improper sources5. if your paper is less than 5 FULL pages long6. failing to credit your sources properly in the text7. failing to credit your sources properly in your bibliography8. if you do not number the pages on the pages of text9. failing to include a proper title page.
